The Southern Health and Social Care Trust provides services across the five council areas in the south of Northern Ireland. With 13,000 staff the Trust delivers services from a number of hospitals, community-based settings and in some cases directly in individuals’ homes.
The Trust has for several years been on a journey to develop wide-ranging improvement capability across all areas of the organisation and use this to deliver the safest, most effective and most compassionate care to every patient. Recognising early on that appropriate technology was a vital part of their improvement infrastructure, they adopted Life QI to support QI learning, project execution and visibility. Initially used primarily as part of QI training programmes, the software is now in use across all Directorates for staff to plan and execute a wide range of improvement ideas.
Once rolled out to all Directorates, over the course of one year they saw a 200% increase in the number of projects being run across the organisation and a 100% increase in the number of staff involved in live improvement projects. Crucially there has also been a marked increase in the proportion of projects successfully delivering demonstrable improvements.
This groundswell in engagement, activity and successful projects has provided a powerful catalyst in developing a more widespread culture of improvement across the Trust.
East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) are well known as a leading improvement focused organisation. They have developed widespread improvement capability across all areas of the trust allowing them to reach and maintain an Outstanding CQC rating.
The Trust uses Life QI to facilitate QI projects across all Directorates, providing consistency of application and complete oversight. This in turn ensures complete and accurate reporting which allows for widespread learning and informed decision making maximising the impact of their improvement work.
Life QI is a one of a kind project management system for improvement projects. With a click of a button you can view your whole improvement portfolio. Whether you have 1 project or 1000 projects, it can be analysed and responded to with ease.
